Southern Poland is at the moment struck by massive flooding. The flooding has closed down several cities and resulted in major water damage. Therefore, the Ministry of Defence has taken the extraordinary measure to finance a deployment of our Emergency Management Agency to our southern neighbour.

The aid consists of ten persons and five trucks with pumping equipment. They are being dispatched to Poland today with the purpose of helping to control the substantial material damage. Poland has requested international aid through the EU, as the country does not possess adequate equipment to handle flooding of this magnitude.

Minister of Defence Gitte Lillelund Bech states: ‘I am pleased that we are able to help our afflicted neighbours in Poland with this deployment by the Emergency Management Agency. It is a palpable expression of our solidarity with one of our good cooperation partners in NATO and the EU, and it is also a form of assistance, which makes a difference to people in a tough situation.’
